Member Benefits

Sudbury Credit Union is a financial co-operative owned, directed and controlled by our members who have joined to receive a complete range of financial products and services.  All money deposited is invested as loans to members and stays in our community.  Profits are used to increase member equity in Sudbury Credit Union and to build reserves.

Our members are shareholders who have a say in how our credit union is run.  Each year, members elect a Board of Directors to represent their needs.  That's the credit union advantage; you are more than a customer, you are a member and an owner.

Our history is the foundation of our philosophy:  that everyone deserves an opportunity to achieve financial well-being, that working together, cooperatively, works for the good of all and that giving back to communities is a key rationale for profitable operations.

Cooperative Principles

  • Voluntary and open membership
  • Democratic member control
  • Member economic participation (through member shares)
  • Autonomy and independence (self-help organizations controlled by members)
  • Education, training and information (for members, staff and directors)
  • Cooperation among cooperatives (working together locally, regionally, nationally and internationally)
  • Concern for community
