Interac® e-transfer (formerly known as Interac® Email Money Transfer) is a fast, convenient and secure way to send money to anyone in Canada from within the security of your online banking service. It uses email and text messaging for fast notification to the recipient that a transfer has been sent, while the participating financial institutions transfer the funds using established and secure banking procedures.

Using INTERAC® e-Transfer is EASY AS 1 – 2 – 3

To send an Interac® e-transfer, all you need is:

  1. An email address
  2. Online access to your bank account
  3. The email address or mobile phone number of the person that you are sending money to.

Email and/or text messages carry the notification while the financial institutions use existing payment networks to transfer the money to any financial institution in Canada. To see how quick and easy the service is, please watch this demo below.

  • You can send money to anyone who banks in Canada using their email address or mobile phone number. You don’t need to know where they bank.
  • Recipients can receive notifications by email address or text message and can receive money from a desktop or mobile phone
  • You can create a recipient on the fly through your desktop or mobile phone
  • You can view and manage your pending transfers
  • The fee per transaction is $0.75 (a non-refundable fee withdrawn immediately from your account when you elect to send an e-Transfer).
